Firefly season has descended into the valley and we’re pleased to see our glowing, twilight-loving friends emerge all over town. If you’ve ever tried to photograph fireflies — you may know that the process is quite tricky.
Asheville photographer James O. Reynolds, creator of this stunning image above, recommends setting up your camera on a tripod, taking ~150 four-second exposures in a row, and then stitching them together into one composite image.
Nerd out on fireflies even more with Editor Brook’s article, which digs into the essence of these ephemeral bugs.

Editor's pick: I had the chance to sample a few menu items from Eldr over the weekend — and I was so impressed by the range of options spread across its daytime + evening menus. A few of the dishes I'm still dreaming about: marinated olives (sprinkled with nasturtium pollen), crisp duck thigh seasonal breakfast hash, and the strawberry-rhubarb Dutch Baby.
And my favorite cocktail? The cosmogroni — made with citron, blanco vermouth, aperol, cointreau + cranberry bitters.
